The Switch Will Be A Perfect Fit For Catherine: Full Body – TheGamer

I think Atlus' upcoming Switch release of Catherine: Full Body could wind up being the definitive version of the game.

I unapologetically love Catherine. It's one of my favorite games of all time, which puts me at odds with many of my peers in the industry. From my perspective, it's one of the most delicate portrayals of sexuality to ever come out of this medium, and a stellar game from a pure mechanical standpoint.

Those mechanics, actually, are why I think Atlus' upcoming Switch release of Catherine: Full Body could wind up being the definitive version of the game. The Switch is a perfect fit for puzzle games, which are usually best played in short bursts whenever you have a few extra minutes. Nintendo's smash-hit console has proven to be the best system for those sorts of experiences, in my opinion, as it truly offers the best of both worlds. Pick up and play, cozy up and binge... you can do both.

Catherine is a game that benefits from either approach, but until now, it's been hard to have the best of both worlds. Being a game tied to home consoles and the PC, it usually required a bit of an investment. Some critics were vocal about their dislike of the pacing of the game, with the ratio of puzzles to narrative segments feeling a bit off to some. The Switch's versatile nature addresses that, with the newfound ability to plug away at puzzles on your commute, then come home and engross yourself in the game's enthralling narrative.

Not only that, but the hefty post-game content will be great for portable play. The real meat of Catherine's mechanics can be found in the post-game content, and being able to take that with you anywhere you go is going to be a huge boon for the game. Speedrunners in the game's fairly active scene will be able to practice anywhere, any time.

Barring a botched port job, Catherine: Full Body could be the ultimate no-brainer way to play this cult classic. Plus, any excuse to talk to Erica again is fine by me!
