The creator ofReturn of the Obra Dinnis Lucas Pope, who also developed the critically acclaimedPapers, Please.October 18 marks the two-year anniversary ofReturn of the Obra Dinn(or Dinniversary, as Pope punnily calls it). To celebrate the occasion,Return of the Obra Dinnis discounted on almost every digital storefront. Pope was asked on Twitter about the game being on sale on the Japanese PlayStation Store, and he said that Sony refused his request to discount the game.

It's beyond strange that Sony would refuse this request from the developer, especially asReturn of the Obra Dinnis cheaper on every other platform. If given the choice, most people are going to pick one of the cheaper options.Return of the Obra Dinnisn't a technically demanding game, so it's not as if there is a hardware benefit for choosing the PS4 version unless it's the only system owned.

Sony is constantly running sales on the PlayStation Store, so it's not as if Pope's sale request is anything unusual. It's unclear why Sony refused the anniversary sale request, but it's a bad look when the game costs less on the systems of its competitors. The Dinniversary sale ends today, so it's likely too late for the PlayStation Store to change the price on time and join in.
