Board games, strategy games, quizzes, and puzzles will be top of the bill for a new licensing programme centered on the Sunday Times best-selling books Prisoners of Geography, as the publishing house Elliott & Thompson look to develop a family edutainment brand around the title.

As part of its plans to develop a franchise around the 2015 book Prisoners of Geography, and its follow up title The Power of Geography to be printed in 2021, Elliott & Thompson has appointed BlueSkye Licensing as its licensing agent in the field.

Written by Tim Marshall, Prisoners of Geography has sold upwards of 1.5 million copies to date with global retail sales now exceeding $20 million. The book combines geography, history, and politics in an informative and accessible way.

Extending the franchise is a natural step forward for Tims books, said Elliott and Thompson chairman, Lorne Forsyth, who has appointed Maggy Harris at BlueSkye to develop the family-centric digital and game based licensing programme.

The licensing programme will primarily focus on Tims extraordinary grasp of his subject matter, the factual content, and the beautiful illustrated edition artwork.
